Game at Petco Park

Calvary baseball has been blessed with an opportunity to play at Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres. The game has been scheduled for April 27, 2012 at 4:00 vs Mountain Empire (should be a very good game). Calvary must sell 500 tickets! Each package is ONLY $15 and includes admission to Calvary's game, AND admission to the Padres vs. Marlins game (date unknown)! If you are interested, please comment below and give me your name and the number of tickets you would like and I will take note of it.

1/28/12 Game at Escondido Charter

Today we beat Escondido Charter High School 9-1. We had several players hit the ball very well and pitching was very good. I started at catcher and batted third. Throughout the game I played catcher(1st and 6th innings), third base (2nd and 7th innings) and I pitched the 4th inning. I had 2 strikeouts and one walk, but thanks to catcher Caleb Whitley's great arm and awareness, the player that walked was thrown out at 2nd base for a one -two-three inning. I was 0-2 at the plate with a walk, a deep fly out to center, and a fisted ground out to 3rd. Can't wait for next week's game at High Tech High Chula Vista!

The Athletes Prayer

Lord, Please clear my head of all distractions, and my heart of burdens I may bear, so I may perform my very best, knowing that you'll always be there.
Please lift me up before the moment, so through your eyes I may see, and have a clearer understanding, as the game unfolds before me.
With great courage I will meet this challenge, as you would have me to, but keep me humble and remind me, that my strength comes from knowing you.
Then when all eyes are upon me, at the end of this game, I will turn their eyes to you O'Lord , and to glory of your name.

Today's game at Kearny High School has been cancelled due to rain. Next week is @ Escondido Charter (Del Dios Middle School).

1/14/11 Game at Castle Park HS

Today we played Castle Park High School in Chula Vista. The hard fought game ended in a disappointing 1-1 tie. The Lions of Calvary out-hit the Castle Park Trojans 6-5, and it appeared that the Lions played much better than the Trojans. Calvary was able to hang with the D-2 Trojans even though Calvary batted all 16 players and pitched almost everyone while the Trojans played their best 9 and threw their #1 and #2 pitchers. The game showed great promise for the regular season, as it also exposed many areas for improvement. I started the game at third base and batted 4th. I quickly moved from third base to catcher 1/3 of the way through the first inning due to an injury to the starting catcher. Since we had 16 guys show up for the game, each player moved from position to position quite frequently and everyone got both play time and bench time. Throughout the game I moved from third base, to catcher, to bench (2nd inning), to shortstop (3rd and 4th innings), back to bench (5th inning), and then catcher again (6th and 7th innings). Not a bad day at the plate; I went 2-2 (both line drive singles to left) with an RBI and a stolen base. Next stop, Kearny High School!

1/7/11 Game at Lincoln HS

Today Calvary played Lincoln High School in San Diego. After 3 hours and 15 minutes, the Lions won 20-0. This was a great start to a highly anticipated 2012 year for Calvary baseball! I caught 5 innings (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and 8th), played third base (6th), and pitched a one-two-three inning (5th) with two strikeouts. I didnt have the best day at the plate. I went 0-2 with a ROE (reached on error), a strikeout, and two walks. I also stole a base and scored twice. Can't wait for next weeks game at Castle Park High School!
